Kraft Paper

Kraft paper covers boxes and protects against scratches

Brown kraft paper has a multitude of uses. Kraft paper is ideal for covering boxes, books and heavy products to protect against scratches. Crumple the kraft paper and use it as an economic void fill. We carry several types of kraft paper including standard, reinforced, poly coated, waxed, indented and bogus (made of recycled kraft paper and newsprint). Paper weights range from 30# to 60#. While most of our kraft paper is available in rolls that will fit standard dispensers, several types are available in convenient pre-cut sheets for uniform products or interleaving.

How Buyers Actually End Up Using This

Kraft paper is usually introduced when plastic void fill becomes too expensive, messy, or unsustainable. It’s commonly used for wrapping, cushioning, and filling space in cartons where moderate protection is sufficient.

How to Choose the Right Option

Weight and roll width matter more than buyers expect. Lighter paper works for void fill, while heavier grades provide surface protection and wrapping strength. Roll size should match carton dimensions to minimize excess tearing.

Common Buying Mistakes to Avoid

Many teams underestimate how much paper is needed per carton, leading to under-ordering and line slowdowns. Another mistake is using paper where shock absorption is required rather than space filling.

When This Isn’t the Best Tool

For fragile items, bubble or foam cushioning provides better impact protection. Kraft paper excels at stabilization and abrasion resistance, not high-impact absorption.
